Hi, I’m Paul. I’m a CS grad from UIUC, where I wrote my thesis on post-training optimization of large language models, specifically making them smaller without breaking them.

I work as a Linux systems developer at an ISP, building network monitoring infrastructure and the occasional project that gets out of hand. I’m currently building a multitenant RAG system for enterprise documents optimized for local, limited hardware. In my free time I go deep on OS and kernel internals, spend more time getting old games to work on modern Linux than actually playing them, and write haiku of variable quality. I live in Champaign, Illinois with my wife and four cats, who are the best part of all of this.
